Squash 2016

In all the years that Devan Currie and I coached the DSJ Squash Teams, 2016 was the most significant in terms of the inter-school league. We made a conscious choice to enter three (rather than two) teams thanks to having more squash players and knowing that in so doing, there are many more players who are motivated through their participation in the league.

We all had good fun in spite of sometimes facing tough opponents, and knew all along that by spreading our skills over three teams, we would be winning less than in previous years : the driving force was to participate and to learn for the future league games.

Two players who won ALL their matches deserve mention : Dino Leidenberg and Samuel Zimmermann…..well done boys !!

We hope to have more girls joining our squash team in the future, as this is the one sport where all play equally well as speed, eye to ball coordination and technique are more relevant than strength/power. Come girls, join us !!

On this happy note, may I bid farewell to all players, Devan Currie, the DSJ Sports Department and a very supportive School Management. Without your help in the background we would not have grown from strength to strength.

Keep on squashing till you are 65 years old like me !!!

Thank you,
Hans Leidenberg.
