NSek -25 Jahre erfolgreich
In unserer heutigen, wettbewerbsstarken Welt ist die Qualität der Bildung von zunehmender Wichtigkeit. Der südafrikanische Markt unabhängiger Privatschulen belegt dies und zeichnet sich dadurch aus, dass jede Schule sich mit ihren Stärken vermarktet und um Schüler wirbt.
Ein Begriff, der dabei immer wieder auftaucht ist “qualitativ hochwertige Bildung”. Aber wodurch zeichnet sich qualitativ hochwertige Bildung aus und wie ist diese messbar? Vielleicht lässt sich die Qualität der Bildung am besten an den Altschülern einer Schule und ihren Erfolgen in der ‚großen, weiten Welt‘ ablesen.
Die englischsprachige Oberstufe (ab der 8. Klasse) wurde im Jahr 2012 geöffnet und besteht somit nun seit drei Jahren. Sie ist sehr erfolgreich. Doch wird angesichts dieser Erfolge die Neue Sekundarstufe (NSek), die bereits 1989 gegründet wurde, oft übersehen. Mit der NSek sollte Schülern aus ehemalig benachteiligten Bevölkerungsschichten die Gelegenheit geboten werden, Bildung an einer Privatschule zu genießen, ohne dabei finanziell belastet zu werden. Mit der Hilfe deutscher Fördergelder bietet die NSek Schülern, die sich unsere Schule sonst nicht leisten könnten, die Möglichkeit sich zu optimal zu entfalten. Schüler unserer englischsprachigen Oberstufe erwerben den IEB-Schulabschluss unabhängiger Schulen, Schüler der NSek können sich zwischen diesem Schulabschluss und dem deutschen Abitur (sofern ihr Deutsch stark genug ist) entscheiden.
Die NSek ist für Schüler ab der 5. Klasse geöffnet und das Niveau des Deutschunterrichts ist in den vergangenen Jahren stetig gestiegen. Das Jahr 2014 ist in der Geschichte der DSJ ein wichtiges, weil die NSek ihr 25jähriges Bestehen feiert. Seit einem Vierteljahrhundert leisten wir somit unseren Beitrag zur Gesellschaft. Um diesen Anlass gebührend zu feiern, lud die DSJ Schüler der ersten Abgänger aus dem Jahr 1989 im Rahmen des Open Day zu einem Frühstückstreffen ein. Der Morgen war sehr unterhaltsam und die Schüler tauschten ihre persönlichen Geschichten aus. Auch der Schulleiter Herr Schreiner und die NSek-Leitern Frau von Lüdinghausen gesellten sich zu ihnen.
Die DSJ bat diese Schüler aus dem Jahre 1989, einen Fragebogen auszufüllen. Unter anderen nahmen folgende Altschüler an dieser Umfrage teil: Andre Klaasen, Nadine Hoop, Renee Jones, Yusuf Docrat, Raabia Gill, Gordon-John Ho Lin, Dr Malerato Ramela, Terence Steeneveldt, Lebogang Maseko (geb.
