Results for the 2016 NSC and Combined NSC-Abitur

In 2016 the first English Medium High School Class completed Grade 12.  This caused an increase in NSC candidates from 30 to 46.  There were also two Grade 12 Kombi-Classes with a total of 27 candidates.

All of the candidates passed.  All candidates passed with an entrance to further study at a tertiary institution.  From the combined NSC-Abitur stream, 26 candidates obtained the minimum requirements to study for a bachelor’s degree and one to study for a diploma at a higher education institution in South Africa. All 27 candidates have obtained the minimum requirements to study at a German tertiary institution or at a tertiary institution in those countries that recognise the German International Abitur.

From the NSC stream, 43 candidates obtained the minimum requirements to study for a bachelor’s degree and three candidates obtained the minimum requirements to study for a diploma or higher certificate at a tertiary institution in South Africa.  This means that 94,5% have a bachelor’s degree pass (BD) and 5,5% have a diploma pass (D). No candidates are excluded from tertiary education. Compared to the overall IEB results, the DSJ fared very well, as can be seen from the table below:
