Despite the best efforts of the weather and Eskom to disrupt the event, the annual Family Day was a remarkable success! We arrived at 6h30 to make the final preparations but were greeted without any power. The first two generators arrived early and worked tirelessly to run the coffee, pancakes and the bar. When the four reinforcements arrived, the inflatables lifted, together with the spirits of the kids.
Visitor numbers were well down on last year, due mostly to the weather and the fact that we had fewer soccer teams than previously, despite this, those who arrived really enjoyed themselves. We had to restock twice on cakes and the food vendors did good trade, while our Barista did not sit once and will certainly return in 2018.
All in all, the event seemed calmer and more intimate. It is what we were aiming for and we surely have the right formula for the future.
Our sincere thanks to Dawn Neusinger for her incredible organisational wizardry and to the PRC team of helpers who mostly pulled 8-10 hour shifts. A massive thank you also goes to Fred Stone and the DSJ Maintenance Team for their massive contributions!
We look forward to seeing you next year.
